Dominion Bullmastiff Club 2007 Double Championship Shows.
Judge Mr Glenn Sparham (Aust.) |
Baby Puppy Dog |
1st: Storeyline Reflection O Bear - Owner: L & D Storey |
(CH Storeyline He's All Bear x CH Storeyline Rose From Garroway) |
Excellent quality puppy, well balanced angulation and proportions, pleasant outline and strong bone. Adequate width in front for his age, skull deep and wide. Required stop and rise of skull from muzzle, distinct facial markings, wide jaw. |
2nd: Storeyline Wot U Talk'n Bout - Owner: L & D Storey |
(CH Storeyline He's All Bear x CH Storeyline Rose From Garroway) |
Similar type to the winner, well proportioned and balanced, strong bone and skull, differs to the first in that he is a touch over wrinkled on the forehead and has a little more white on the chest than I'd like to see. |
3rd: Storeyline Anotha Omen - Owner: L & D Storey |
(CH Storeyline He's All Bear x CH Storeyline Rose From Garroway) |
Also similar to the first two, well proportioned and balanced angulation, however the skull and muzzle wasn't as strong as the first two. |
4th: Nicklewood Made Of Stone Of Abbeyblyth - Owner: W Marden |
(NZ CH Pryderi Iolo (Imp. UK) x CH Castlecliff Miss Nala) |
Well handled and trained athletic puppy, a little longer in body than I'd prefer, and slightly over shot in bite, which affects the expression of the head. This may improve with age. Straighter in rear angulation than required. |
Puppy Dog |
1st: Bullestate Charles Bronson - Owner: P & L Janssen |
(CH Kugel Charles Upham x CH Ablamor Fleur De Lis) |
Promising youngster, going through the awkward growth stage. Excellent definition of skull with pronounced stop and rise of skull. Muzzle and skull in correct proportions, his head would, however, benefit from a wider jaw. His chest is very wide, however he doesn't have the depth required, this may come with age. He is a little short in upper arm and he could do with better front angulation. He has well sprung ribs and his thighs are well muscled. He would benefit from a better turn of stifle and is slightly higher in the rear than the front. A little sloppy on the move as he paced, so I couldn't assess him properly. This could be something he grows out of. |
Junior Dog |
1st: Nascade Double Take - Owner: H Clifford |
(NZ CH Gameguard Stormin Norman (Imp. Aust.) x CH Nascade Maiden Image) |
A medium sized red dog of excellent quality. Pleasant outline and proportion and correct length of leg to depth of body. His front is first class, with the rare combination of depth, width, and let down of pro sternum. He has good upper arm length and angulation, his forelegs are straight and strong. Well sprung ribs. His back is short, as required, a quality which Bullmastiffs lack, even on the world stage. His head is obviously one of his strengths. It has very good depth and width of skull, his stop is pronounced and he has a very wide jaw. He has the correct amount of wrinkle, which adds to his quality expression. I would prefer a better turn of stifle and width of second thigh, however it did not affect his movement and he trotted with power and purpose. To be critical, he has a touch too much white on his chest. |
2nd: Avetra Morpheus - Owner: D Royer |
(NZ CH Gameguard Stormin Norman (Imp. Aust.) x My Little Honey (Imp. UK)) |
Similar style of animal to the first, but smaller, excellent head quality, square with strong stop, well pigmented. Straight front, with required width and depth, slightly smutty colouring on the chest, and a little longer in body. He could also do with a better turn of stifle. I would prefer more substance. |
3rd: Kugel Red Revenge - Owner: S Deery |
(CH Kugel Charles Upham x CH Kugel Brave Nancy Wake) |
Tall red dog with excellent pigmentation, good depth and width of skull, however he could do with a stronger muzzle to balance his skull. Good strength of bone. Topline rises to the rear, however, and he could also be improved with a better turn of stifle. His front is wide, however his pro sternum was not well let down. He is a little short in upper arm. |
4th: Kugel Jackson - Owner: P & L Janssen |
(CH Kugel Staunchly Sampson x NZ CH Oldworld ShadyLadyElle (Imp. Aust.)) |
Tall fawn dog with excellent definition of skull with good depth and width. Good mask. Muzzle could be wider and eye could be darker. In regards to his front he is exceptionally wide, but he is quite forward in shoulder and very short in upper arm, this causes his front assembly to be attached too far out the front of his torso. As a result his chest is a little concaved and his pasterns are too upright. He has very strong bone. His thighs are well muscled but he could do with more turn of stifle. Front movement lacks reach due to his forequarter assembly. |
Intermediate Dog |
1st: CH Brenton Tyson - Owner: T & B Lamb |
(NZ CH Bankg Bullanzac (Imp. Aust.) x CH Bullestate Kruse Control) |
Large fawn dog with strong bone. Very good front with required width and depth, as well as a prominent pro sternum, forelegs are straight. Good pigmentation and good width and depth of skull. Muzzle very broad, excellent bite with large, straight teeth. Stop is a little sloping for my tastes, and more definition would improve his expression. His body is a little longer than required, and he dips a little behind the withers, however his ribs are well sprung. Fair rear angulation with very prominent musculation. |
2nd: Grasslock Baton Rouge (Imp. Aust.) - Owner: M & S Murray |
(Aust. Kimbullad Divine Justice (Aust.) x Grasslock Allgold (Aust.)) |
Medium sized red dog. Fair outline, good depth and width of skull, however his expression is spoilt by his light eyes. His body is sufficiently deep, but he lacks spring of rib and is slab sided, this causes his front to be quite narrow. to compensate his front feet stand east west to balance himself. His topline rises a little over the rear. I prefer this dog's short back in comparison to the winner. |
NZ Bred Dog |
1st: Young Gun Of Waterlea - Owner: V Mills & B Fawthrop |
(Aust. CH Steelmaz Young Gun (Aust.) x Rangatira Red Beauty) |
Excellent quality dog of rich red colouring. Excellent outline with well sprung ribs, deep chest, and the required let down of pro sternum. He could benefit from a slightly longer upper arm and straighter feet. Excellent square skull with correct depth and width, allowing for a pronounced stop and strong rise of forehead. He is well boned above the eyes. The muzzle is quite strong with very wide jaw and an almost level bite. To be critical, his head is slightly too wrinkled for my preference. The topline is firm on the stack and on the move. His hindquarters are well turned, coupled with well muscled first and second thigh. He has powerful drive from the rear on the move but could have better forward reach. |
2nd: Brenton Montgomery - Owner: T & B Lamb |
(Kugel Jessie James x CH Bullestate Kruse Control) |
Fawn dog with good outline, deep and wide skull, however he is a little plain, and a more pronounced stop would add to his expression. Very strong muzzle and almost level bite. Eyes could be darker. Coat not the best on the day, pasterns are a little weak. |
Open Dog |
1st: CH Boomer's Boy Of Waterlea - Owner: V Mills |
(Aust. CH Steelmaz Young Gun (Aust.) x Rangatira Red Beauty) |
Very good quality dog with clear red coat contrasting with dark pigmentation. Pleasing outline with well balanced front and rear angulation. The topline is firm and his back is with well sprung ribs. There is a little more tuck up at the loin than I would expect. Very good square skull and strong muzzle, with almost level bite, with good width, and fair amount of wrinkle. The chest is deep, however I would prefer more width. Good muscle tone. Despite the fact that his angles are balanced fore and aft, I would prefer more angulation at the shoulder as well as the stifle. This would give more reach up front and more drive from behind. |
2nd: Blackmask Reuben James - Owner: S & C Clarke |
(Aust. & NZ CH Copperfield Capt Taunton Of Graecia (Imp. UK) x NZ CH Grasslock Stella Polaris AI (Imp. Aust.)) |
Very good medium sized fawn dog. Short backed animal with a deep and wide chest, however his elbows are a little pinched to his chest and he stands a touch east west. Strong head with required depth and width which is balanced, with clearly defined pigmentation. He could benefit from a wider jaw. Topline rises to the rear and he is carrying a touch too much condition. |
Challenge Dog: Nascade Double Take |
An excellent quality dog who has one of the best fronts I've seen. In a time when fronts are deteriorating I couldn't go past him. He has a super quality headpiece, and of the few dogs with the required short back. Granted, I would like a better rear, but his virtues could not be overlooked. He could be competitive anywhere around the world. |
Reserve Challenge: Young Gun Of Waterlea |
Another excellent quality dog, who has an outstanding profile. while he has the rear that the winner lacks he could do with stronger feet and prosternum. As with the winner, he could be competitive anywhere around the world. |
Baby Puppy Bitch |
1st: Storeyline Al That N Then Some - Owner: L & D Storey |
(CH Storeyline He's All Bear x CH Storeyline Rose From Garroway) |
Excellent quality brindle with pleasant outline and surprisingly all together for such a baby. Quality head type and top. I would prefer her a little wider in front but this may come with age. Correct short back. Brindle striping is clear and even and for a brindle to have not a hair of white is quite remarkable! |
2nd: Achnacon Solar Eclipse - Owner: A & R McDonald |
(CH Rangatira Defender x CH Kugel Top Option) |
Large puppy with strong bone, excellent definition of skull and good rise of forehead. Good pigmentation also, however she is more undershot than I would like, especially at this age. Her chest is deep and wide but her topline rises a little towards the rear. A little longer in body than required. I would prefer less smuttiness on her chest. |
3rd: Delane Daenerys At Blackmask - Owner: S & C Clarke |
(NZ CH Gameguard Stormin Norman (Imp. Aust.) x Blackmask Molly Reeve) |
Very clear fawn coloured puppy with strong bone and wide front. Muzzle a little narrower than required and the eyes are a touch too close together. A touch bum high at this stage. |
4th: Delane Destiny At Nascade - Owner: H Clifford |
(NZ CH Gameguard Stormin Norman (Imp. Aust.) x Blackmask Molly Reeve) |
Similar to the third place getter in that she has great boning and a wide front. She also is a little close between the eyes and is weaker in muzzle. Also high in the rear. |
Junior Bitch |
1st: Bullestate Rianon - Owner: T & B Lamb |
(CH Kugel R M Williams x Bullestate Spooks Little Boo) |
Good type and excellent head qualities, very wide, and deep clear pigmentation. Deep, well sprung ribs, a touch short in upper arm, which brings her forelegs too far front on her torso; this makes her short step on the move. Adequate turn of stifle, but during the move her rear rolls a little. |
Intermediate Bitch |
1st: Storeyline Embers Of Chloe - Owner: L & D Storey |
(Storeyline Who Is Fangeo x CH Storeyline Witches Brew) |
Excellent quality bitch with very strong head type. Skull square with well defined stop and strong muzzle. Attractive expression but a touch more undershot than I would prefer. Outstanding front, very deep and wide, showing her pro sternum, correct laid back shoulders, tight feet, and straight forelegs. Well sprung ribs and short loin, excellent second thigh. Her topline rises slightly over the rear and this is due to a steep pelvis. This also causes her to stand underneath herself in the rear, resulting in an absence of the drive I would expect to see. |
2nd: CH Kugel Brandy Splash - Owner: Q & T Robinson |
(CH Kugel Barberic Robt E Lee x CH Kugel Brave Nancy Wake) |
Athletic style bitch whose body is longer than required, she could do with more boning and better rib spring. Her head is expressive and is deep and wide. Slightly rear high. |
3rd: CH Shaymana Harriet - Owner: J Torkington |
(CH Blazon Creatin Havoc x CH Kugel Bit Of Troubull) |
Substantial bitch, again a little longer than required. Square skull, but stop was a little sloping, ears could be smaller. Adequate turn of stifle. She was stronger in the body than the 2nd bitch but unfortunately she had a wry jaw. |
4th: CH Castlecliff Miss Nala - Owner: W Marden |
(NZ CH Kimbullad Frozen Assets (Imp. Aust.) x Abbeyblyth Narla) |
Pleasant headed fawn bitch with good pigmentation. She could do with more bone and a shorter back, her topline rises to the rear. She is slightly out at elbow due to her short upper arm, bringing her forequarters so far forward on her torso. |
NZ Bred Bitch |
Quite easily the best class of the day, all of these bitches could possibly make a promising contribution to the breed. |
1st: CH Pretty In Pink Of Waterlea - Owner: V Mills |
(Aust. CH Steelmaz Young Gun (Aust.) x Rangatira Red Beauty) |
Excellent quality red bitch with the combination of soundness and type. She has a strong head which is square with correct proportions. Her skull has good rise to the forehead with bone above her eyes and a strong muzzle and wide jaw. Good pigmentation. Her front is superb, coupling depth and width and a very prominent pro sternum. Her ribs are well sprung and remain deep back to her loin. Her back is short with a level topline on the stack. Very good turn of stifle and strong second thigh, which she uses to move with tremendous power. Well balanced and correct angulation of fore and hind quarters. On the move her rear feet replace the front ones as they leave, she is very sound and undoubtedly exudes type. To be critical, her chin is a little more prominent than I'd prefer and it could be more cut off blunt. |
2nd: Aust. CH CH Nascade Serenity - Owner: H Clifford |
(CH Kugel R M Williams x CH Nascade Maiden Image) |
Another excellent bitch and unlucky to come up against the winner. She is large and well boned and many of the comments about the winner can easily be given to her. She also has a strong head, it is well defined, and has good bone above the eyes to square the skull. Her muzzle is very wide and strong with an almost level bite. Her chest is deep and wide, along with the rare prominent pro sternum. Her legs are straight and strong. Her topline is firm and her ribs are well sprung. Her hindquarters are excellent with well turned stifles, which she flexes on the move. Her feet could be tighter and I would prefer a shorter back. she was a touch out of condition. Excellently put together. |
3rd: CH Ablamor Aon Erinneen - Owner: K Robinson & E Ravji |
(NZ CH Bankg Bullanzac (Imp. Aust.) x NZ CH Kangala Erin (Imp. Aust.)) |
Very good quality medium sized fawn. Excellent body proportions. Level topline, well sprung ribs and a deep and wide front. Well turned stifle. Movement very sound and even. Her head is a little plain for my tastes and she would benefit from a deeper stop and more cheek. |
4th: Storeyline Pandora's Box - Owner: L & D Storey |
(RoxEdge's High Flyin Norton (Can.) x Can. & NZ CH Garroway's Aiyana (Imp. Can.)) |
Very good quality bitch that excels in head type. Pigment very dark, with good expression. Ears small, as required, and one of the few animals to exhibit this quality. This squares her skull nicely. She could do with a touch more bone and her front is a little too forward due to short upper arms. She rises a little to the rear. |
Veteran Bitch |
1st: CH Blackmask Amanda - Owner: C Clarke |
(CH Blackmask Clancy x NZ CH Grasslock Stella Polaris AI (Imp. Aust.)) |
Excellent quality old girl with pleasant outline. Good head type, square with correct depth and width, correct stop. Wide mouth and good teeth placement. Good prosternum and depth of body. Adequate turn of stifle. Not the keenest of movers, but she did enough to show that she would have been competitive in her hey-day. |
Open Bitch |
1st: CH Blackmask Vivacia - Owner: S & C Clarke |
(Aust. & NZ CH Copperfield Capt Taunton Of Graecia (Imp. UK) x Opalguard Chrystal (Imp. Aust.)) |
Very good fawn bitch with excellent head type, possibly the strongest amongst the bitches on the day. Her pigment is very striking in contrast with her pale fawn coat. Her head is strong but feminine, deep and wide, coupled with a defined stop, her muzzle is very broad and her bite almost level. Her eyes are dark. Her front is deep and wide, however she is a little short in upper arm and she rounds off over the topline. This combination caused her to stand lower at the front. Very good turn of stifle and strong second thigh. |
2nd: CH Storeyline Witches Brew - Owner: L & D Storey |
(CH Oakcroft Good Omen x Storeyline Hot Honey) |
Substantial red bitch with well sprung ribs, proportion wise she is a little too long in body and shorter in leg than I would prefer. The angulation of both her fore and rear quarters are excellent however. Her topline is level. Her head is pleasant though I would prefer more width between her eyes. Unfortunately lame on the day. |
3rd: My Little Honey (Imp. UK) - Owner: D Royer |
(Eng. CH Pryderi Burrunji At Chalfs (UK) x Bullvallic Kiss the Killkenny (UK)) |
Short backed fawn bitch, good head type, muzzle could be stronger and teeth straighter. Could do with more bone, adequate turn of stifle. Unfortunately also lame on the day. |
Challenge Bitch: CH Pretty In Pink Of Waterlea |
What can I say? She is a world class bitch, her balance, proportion and movement reveal her class. She was in better condition than the reserve bitch and shorter in back. |
Reserve Challenge: CH Nascade Serenity |
Another world class specimen, beautifully put together. Very sound for a large girl. |
